Mick Jagger’s Portuguese Summer Holidays Itinerary

The legendary frontman of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, has traded stadium lights for Portugal’s scenic charm this summer, sharing in his Instagram “Took a summer break in Portugal – a beautiful place to explore!”

Following the cancellation of the band’s European tour, he embarked on what many are calling a “cultural and gastronomic tour” across the country, documenting his journey with heartfelt snapshots and reflections.

In a post shared on Instagram, Jagger described his time in Portugal as “a beautiful country to explore,” offering fans a rare and intimate travel diary featuring iconic locations like Lisbon, Sintra, Coimbra, Nazaré, and Porto.

Journey Through Portugal’s Enchantment

Lisbon

Jagger’s journey began in the capital. He strolled through the charming streets of Baixa and made a stop at the Museum of Decorative Arts, where he snapped a photo beside Joana Vasconcelos’ striking baroque-inspired Porsche 911.

He also enjoyed a memorable dinner at ÀCosta by Olivier, situated along the Tagus River.

The seafood-forward menu included carpaccio, pata negra ham, grilled razor clams, and decadent “arroz real” featuring carabineiro and lobster — all accompanied by Portuguese wines and ending with coffee and ginger tea.

Sintra & Arrábida

The cultural immersion continued with excursions to Sintra’s regal grounds.

He admired the famous tiles at the Quinta da Regaleira and visited the historic kitchen of the National Palace of Sintra, one of Portugal’s most remarkable heritage sites.

Nazaré

A coastal stop in Nazaré (a destination world-famous for its giant waves) included a guest appearance at the vibrant Taberna d’Adélia, where he dined on traditional seafood dishes—raising glasses and smiles alike with the restaurant’s team.

Coimbra

In the university town of Coimbra, Jagger’s presence was immortalized in a photo with a local PSP officer — a candid yet charming moment that quickly made the rounds online.

A photo showing a very cheerful Jagger with officer Pedro Santos was posted on the Coimbra PSP’s social media pages. “Good morning, and have a good week! When, during a community policing operation in downtown Coimbra, you encounter Mick Jagger, a rock legend!” the post read.” the post read.

Porto

His northern journey concluded in Porto, dining at Tokkotai, an inventive Michelin-recommended Japanese restaurant.

A post from the restaurant’s Instagram shared the honor of welcoming Mick and his son, Lucas, underscoring the intimate, respectful nature of his visit.

A Musical Farewell With a Touch of Heritage

As his Portuguese escape drew to a close, Mick Jagger bid farewell not with fireworks, but with a simple, soulful tribute: Cesária Évora’s “Sodade” played as the soundtrack to his final Instagram post, a graceful nod to lusophone musical roots and the spirit of nostalgia.
